Sample Exhuma Islands Itinerary - NAS to GGT

Day 1:  Nassau  → Clifton Bay

Start at The Pointe Marina in Nassau. Take a short hop down the New Providence coast. Dive Clifton Wall — the reason this stop earns its place on a "best diving" itinerary. The wall drops from ~15ft to 55ft+ right off the beach, thick with sea fans and reef fish, and it's home to Jason deCaires Taylor's underwater sculpture garden (Ocean Atlas, plus several other submerged pieces) — great for photography on the same dive.

Day 2: Clifton Bay → Allen's Cay → Highbourne Cay

This is your Yellow Bank crossing, break it up at Allen's Cay for the famous hand-feeding rock iguanas. Push on to Highbourne Cay Marina for the night — good fuel stop, small store, nice restaurant if you want a night off the boat.

Day 3: Highbourne → Shroud Cay

Morning dive on the reefs off Highbourne before running down to Shroud Cay. Once there, don't just dive — dinghy the mangrove creek to Camp Driftwood, hike up for the view, and hit Sancho's Steps, the sandbar/rapids feature that's one of the most photographed spots in the Exumas. Turtles are common in the creek.

Day 4: Highbourne → Exuma Land and Sea Park (Warderick Wells)

Back to Highbourne for breakfast/lunch, then dive before the run south into the park. Grab a mooring ball at Warderick Wells and dive Emerald Rock or the current-driven drift dive/swim known locally as the Washing Machine near the north mooring field — strong current, big fish life. Climb Boo Boo Hill for sunset.

Day 5: Dive AM → Compass Cay Marina

Dive Rocky Dundas (small limestone caves you can swim into, stalactites, good light shafts) on the way down, or the Sea Aquarium — a shallow, current-swept reef between Compass Cay and Big Majors so thick with fish it's basically a live aquarium tank; phenomenal snorkel/dive even at 10-15ft. At Compass Cay, swim with the resident nurse sharks right off the docks.

Day 6: Dive AM → Staniel Cay

Thunderball Grotto is the must-do here — the James Bond cave dive/snorkel. Time it for slack tide (roughly 1-2 hrs either side of low tide) when the current dies and visibility is best; the light shafts through the cave roof are spectacular midday. Staniel Cay Yacht Club for lunch, and the swimming pigs at Big Major's Cay are a 5-min dinghy ride away if you haven't done that yet.

Day 7: Staniel Cay → Georgetown (GGT)

Consider a lunch stop at Black Point or Little Farmers Cay en route. Near Georgetown, dive Angelfish Blue Hole or Mystery Cave off Stocking Island. Anchor off Stocking Island and dinghy to Chat 'N' Chill on Volleyball Beach for the stingray feeding, conch salad, and horseshoe-pit vibe Georgetown is known for.

 

Day 8: Emerald Bay Marina

Final stop at the Sandals-adjacent marina — good last-night option before flights out of GGT airport.
